MEET ANDREA

Andrea Deutsch is a small businesswoman and local leader with extensive experience in both the private sector and in government.

Andrea has deep roots in the District 148 community. She grew up in Wynnewood, graduated from Friends' Central School, Franklin & Marshall College, and the Temple University School of Law. and has lived in Narberth for 28 years.

Andrea understands the pressures local residents and businesses deal with every day. She has run a small, local business for over two decades and knows firsthand what rising healthcare, housing, and business costs mean for people across District 148.

Andrea knows what it takes to serve in elected office. She has a decade of experience in both legislative and executive policymaking, as a local Council Member and Mayor of Narberth.

Now, Andrea is ready to get to work in Harrisburg serving the people of District 148.

ANDREA'S TENURE AS MAYOR

As Mayor, Andrea worked to improve public safety services in Narberth. She worked with two different police chiefs to manage personnel, update policies, and expand community outreach — doing the difficult but necessary work of addressing longstanding challenges in order to leave Narberth with a police department that reflects the values of professionalism, accountability, and community trust.

Andrea led Narberth through the COVID-19 pandemic, making tough choices to protect public health while also supporting our businesses through that extraordinarily difficult time.

Andrea worked hard to represent the Narberth community at over 300 borough meetings, elevating Narberth residents' questions and concerns, to ensure their voices had a 'seat at the table.' She strived to recognize the wonderfully rich and complex nature of Narberth’s history while using a steady hand to help guide its future.

Andrea has the experience needed to ensure we always have a 'seat at the table' in Harrisburg.

A LETTER OF ENDORSEMENT FROM THE FORMER NARBERTH COUNCIL PRESIDENT

Dear 148th District Constituents,

As former Vice-President and President of Narberth Borough Council from 2010 through 2022, I am writing to offer my unequivocal support for Andrea Deutsch in the race for State Representative in the 148th District. I had the privilege of serving with Andrea on Narberth Borough Council and working closely with her during her tenure as Mayor of Narberth. Over the course of a decade I consistently saw her bring a thoughtful, ethical, and people-first approach to leadership and decision-making.

From firsthand experience, I know how challenging it is to make difficult but necessary decisions on behalf of a community. Those skills are not theoretical — they are earned through doing the work. Having served as an elected official for over ten years, Andrea brings a level of experience and judgment that is hard to find. I directly observed her avoid the common pitfalls that often trap elected officials, whether populist grandstanding or undue influence from special interests. In every matter before us, Andrea focused on what would best serve the long-term interests of the entire community.

As a small business owner, Andrea understands the real-world impact of tax policy, land development, and business regulation. For 22 years, she has owned and operated Spots, A Place for Pets, and has lived the challenges small businesses face. That firsthand perspective gives her understanding of how smart, strategic state-level policies can support entrepreneurship, employment, the local economy, and help Pennsylvania to grow. This practical experience also sets Andrea apart from many candidates who speak about small business without having ever run one.

In addition to her local leadership and entrepreneurship, Andrea brings meaningful experience engaging at the state and national level on health care policy. Andrea lives with Type 1 diabetes and has been a tireless advocate for affordable, accessible health care — not as an abstract issue, but as a lived reality. Through this work, she has engaged with policymakers, stakeholders, and advocates across the country, developing a practical understanding of how state and federal decisions, and the bureaucracies that implement them, directly affect families. This combination of personal stake and policy fluency gives Andrea a depth of insight that will serve the 148th District exceptionally well in Harrisburg, and to my understanding, is unique amongst the current candidates in the primary election.

This is a crowded primary, and that is healthy for our democracy. I hope Democratic Committee members, in making an endorsement decision, evaluate each candidate on their individual merits and set aside preconceived conclusions in service of what is best for the constituents of the 148th District. In Andrea Deutsch, you will find an exceptionally capable, principled, and effective representative.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Aaron Muderick
